MacBeth Final Draft
Greed gives motivation to reach a certain goal. Sometimes, it works and does help you to achieve what you want, but there will be punishments, or you will have to pay the price. In MacBeth by William Shakespeare, there are two characters named Macbeth and Lady Macbeth who are lovers and partners in crime. They are both greedy to become king and queen of Scotland, so they take matters into their own hands and do very inhumane things. Although it seemed as if they were fine and achieved the goal, they would pay a price. William Shakespeare’s story “MacBeth” shows how greed for power always has a price to pay, and in the end might not be worth it.
First of all, Lady Macbeth and MacBeth were greedy to become king and queen, so they decided to kill King Duncan. They did this because Duncan’s son, Malcolm, was going to be his successor, so they framed him. Greed and killing can turn your brain and think ill, though. MacBeth was talking big to his wife about his plan that he is going to kill Duncan, but when it came to the actual event, he could barely do the job. “Why did you bring the daggers with you? They must be left up there. Take them back, and smear the sleepy servants with blood.Coward! Give me the daggers! Sleeping and dead people are like pictures of themselves.”MacBeth suddenly wasn’t such a big man anymore. He could barely do the job. "What's happened to me, that every noise scares me? More likely my hands will stain the vast green seas blood-red." It was also as if he was becoming delirious. MacBeth killed Duncan and becomes king, but it’s as if all this trauma and paranoia is worse. Not to mention the thought of someone having an idea that he did the killing of the King. That would lead him to his doom.
Lady Macbeth didn’t do any killing, but she plays a big role in it. "If Duncan hadn't looked like my father in his sleep, I'd have done it myself." She was crazy herself, it was as if she wanted Duncan dead more than Macbeth did. In the beginning, it seemed that nothing affected her. She was the one who had drunken Duncan’s guards and put them to sleep. She also put the daggers by Duncan’s bed for Macbeth to do the killing. To top it off, she was the one to grab the daggers and frame Duncan’s sons because Macbeth was already delirious. From this point, there were some small thoughts that she would pay the same price that Macbeth did and become ill-minded. Towards the end of the book, she too became traumatized. “To bed, to bed. There’s someone knocking at the gate.” The doctor and lady-in-waiting experienced Lady Macbeth commit suicide. In the end, all her efforts to become queen was put to waste because she ended up dying, too. Her price for being greedy was worth too much.
Macbeth and Lady Macbeth both paid the price for being greedy, which was worse than their actual achievement. After Duncan’s killing both of their brains didn’t function right anymore. Macbeth was becoming suspicious about everything. He sent out murderers to kill Banquo because the witches said he would be the father of a line of kings. After Banquo’s death, Macbeth started seeing things. While he was with his acquaintances, he was hallucinating and could see Banquo’s ghost. Because of this, he was becoming crazy. He was also paranoid that MacDuff knew that he had killed Duncan. So, he sent out murderers to kill him, too, but he had left to go get Malcolm. MacBeth was so nervous about getting killed that he was oblivious to everything that was happening around him. “The queen, my lord, is dead.” After hearing the news about Lady Macbeth’s death, he didn’t even worry. He was just worried about himself. “MacDuff enter, with Macbeth’s head on a pole.” In the end, Macbeth dies, and Malcolm becomes King. Which is very ironic because Macbeth killed Duncan to become king. So, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth end up dying and in my opinion, wasn’t worth their whole scheme. MacBeth and Lady MacBeth were just too caught up in the greed for power. People want power because they are selfish and want everything to themselves, which is also greedy. But also because they are not so sure about themselves. A person would want to be the top dog so that they make sure that everyone knows that they are important or powerful. This says that this person is insecure about themselves if they try to remind people about themselves.
“MacBeth” by William Shakespeare is an example of how being greedy for power has a price, and sometimes the price is worth more than the actual goal you are trying to achieve. Lady Macbeth wanted to become queen of Scotland by killing the King Duncan. But, she ended up becoming traumatized and commiting suicide. Macbeth wanted to become king, but he became crazy and paranoid about everything, so he ended up killing even more people. In the end, he dies, too. Both of them achieved their goal by being greedy and killing people, but in the end, they ended up dying, too. They did become king and queen for a little while, but the price they had to pay were their lives. Which in my opinion, is not worth being king or queen. The moral is don’t be greedy and go overboard to achieve a goal because you will pay for it in the end, it won't bet worth it.
A'ole Moanalua: Flyers
The purpose of our protest is to inform students, teachers, faculty and staff about the impact excess amount of homework can have on a student's overall well being. The flyer on the top briefly explains the affects a lot of homework can have on a child; while the flyer on the bottom goes over the positives of having less homework. Our slogan for our campaign, "Less Homework, More Freedom" simply means that if teachers assign less homework students will have more time for themselves, family and overall become a happier, healthier person.
A'ole Moanalua: Less Homework
To whom it may concern,
Students around the nation struggle with homework. Although the homework might not be difficult, having too much homework can be very stressful and time consuming. My team and I are proposing a less homework policy for Moanalua High School. We believe that this policy will relieve students of the stress and exhaustion of homework.
Homework gives students many problems. A lot of students get most of their stress from homework. According to a Stanford study, 56% of students find homework to be the primary source of stress. Also, since homework can be such a big part of a student's grade, 33% of students find getting good grades as their primary source of stress. Homework also takes away time from a student's sleep. According to a study from the Child Development journal, students that lose sleep due to things like homework and studying, have a hard time to comprehend material and do well on tests. Without understanding the concepts and doing well tests this can also add to a student's stress. With less homework, students wouldn’t have as much stress and be able to learn and excel to the best of their ability.
Having less homework takes a huge weight off of students. Moanalua should enforce a less homework policy to protect the health and well being of their students. Without having to worry about a lot of homework, it gives students extra time to do extracurricular activities, spend time with family, and get a good amount of sleep each night. Having less homework gives students more freedom.
Sincerely,
Anonymous

THG Graphic
My outfit would be a basball tee and pants because that’s what lots of Aiea kids play. Also, it would say A-Town on top, and have ti-leaves. Ti-leaves are good luck, and we use to bring them to games. My life skill that i would use is mostly baseball skills. I would be able to throw things at the opponent, which is good for long range. Also, if I have a stick or something, I would be able to swing at them. I can be accurate sometimes when I throw, so it will be easier to throw objects at people. Also, I would be able to run quickly if I every needed to.

MacBeth Soliloquy
MacBeth is a guy that acts like he is a big guy, but when it comes to the deed, he chickens out and doesn't want to do it. For example, when he was discussing Duncan's murder with Lady MacBeth, he acted as if it would be super easy. When it came to the actual murder, MacBeth didn't even want to do the killing. Lady MacBeth had more guts to do it, but she said that Duncan looked like her father. MacBeth is all talk no show. I think that in Act 3 he is going to do whatever he can to stay as king. Maybe kill other people just so that his throne isn't threatened. Just like how he murdered Duncan, anyone could murder him, too. MacBeth is just an interesting character that some people can be compared to. All talk, no show.
MacBeth Soliloquy
Finally, Duncan is dead and I am now king. It was hard for me to do, but I did it. And, everyone thinks that his two sons killed him. Even greater for me, no one knows that I am the murderer. Now I have to secure my spot as king. Hopefully there's not anyone out there that want me dead. I don't think that I could kill another person. Well, those ladies did say that Banquo would be a father of a line of kings, so maybe that's my opportunity to secure my spot. But, I'll hire someone else to do the dirty work, yeah, that sounds good.

3/31 Handout
1. MacBeth and his wife have a very close relationship, and act as 2 bad guys in a TV show. They both have the same ideas and schemes. They also have similar personalities to each other.
2. MacBeth ultimately decides to kill Duncan because he wants to be king.
3. MacBeth is a very mischievous character because he acts as if a good guy, but really, he wants to kill the king.
4. I think that they will get away with the murder because they planned out exactly how they were gonna frame someone else, like how they will blame the guards.
5. I think that MacBeth shouldn't kill Duncan because he doesn't have anything against him. He just wants to be king.
Quotes
1. "He'll never see tomorrow's sun! Your face, my thane, is like a book."
"Your letters have shown me the future so clearly that I feel it with us now."
2. "Stars, stop shining! Let darkness hide my wicked ambitions."
3. "Service to you as a loyal subject is it's own reward."
"We are only doing our duty when we protect your love and honor."
4. "Look frank and innocent. To show your feelings is dangerous. Leave everything else to me."
"When they are drunk and sleeping like pigs, what can't we do to the unguarded Duncan? What can't we blame on his sodden officers? They'll get the blame for our great murder."

4/2 Handout
1. Yes, I think that Lady MacBeth is a cold-blooded murderer because it seemed as if she wanted King Duncan more than MacBeth. She also said that she would almost do the killing herself. She is the one to have framed the two guards, too. She took blood and put it on the guards, and put the dagger back in their hands. MacBeth was very astonished when seeing the blood on his hands, that he was dazed.
2. Lady MacBeth pretends to faint in ACT 2 because she wants to act innocent, and so that no one will suspect that she assisted in the murder. It does serve her purpose because they fell for it, and had to carry her away.
3. MacBeth feels very guilty and the blood of Duncan haunts him. He panics and worries because he realizes what he has done, and seems as if he regrets it.
4. Lady MacBeth doesn't kill Duncan because she says that he resembles her Father, when she saw him sleeping.
5. I think that Macbeth would have to do a lot to have his reign as king. Being the king of the land is a very difficult job because you rule over the people, and you have to have authority. Also, there will be people that suspect MacBeth to kill the king himself, so there will always be someone that wants him dead.
Part Two
1. "Why did you bring the daggers with you? They must be left up there. Take them back, and smear the sleepy servants with blood."
"Coward! Give me the daggers! Sleeping and dead people are like pictures of themselves."
2. "Oh, no! What? In our house?"
"Help me, please"
3. "What's happened to me, that every noise scares me?"
"More likely my hands will stain the vast green seas blood-red."
4. "If Duncan hadn't looked like my father in his sleep, I'd have done it myself."

Macbeth Pre-Reading Work
1. Yes I agree with this statement. Franklin Delano Roosevelt helped our country get out of the Great Depression, but without his wife, he wouldn't have been as successful. The woman can support the man, or the other way around. Together, they help each other with problems.
2. I do believe that witches, demons, and evil spirits exist. There are people in this world that can feel these certain things, and I believe that they really can. I watched some shows about people that hunt spirits and ghosts, and it does seem like paranormal activities do happen.
3. I somewhat agree with this statement, but it depends on the situation. It depends on what you are doing wrong, and what you want. For example, if you want to look cool, you shouldn't do drugs just because someone else says that it's "cool." You should be able to know what's wrong or right and certain things you can do for things you want.
4. I agree with this statement because it "coincidentally" happens. Karma usually happens to everyone, even if they don't believe it. An example is that when I do bad things, I usually get punished for it somehow. Or, if i do something good, I get good things in return.
5. I agree with this because it is true. Many people are tempted to do bad things just to get what they want. I watched some shows where someone would do anything do get attention or popularity.
6. I agree with this statement. If the ruler of your country isn't making the country better than they shouldn't be ruling anymore. They would just keep making the country worse and eventually destroy all of it. In history, there were many rulers who were not making their country better, so the people overthrew them and in the end, the people ended up helping the country for everyone.
7. I agree with this statement because murdering someone isn't always about you actually wanting to kill them. If there is a person that is trying to murder you, but you are just using self defense, then there are certain circumstances that justify you murdering that person. I saw a movie where the cop had to shoot someone so that the person wouldn't kill anyone else.
8. I disagree with this statement because success isn't always worth the pay. Being right or winning, isn't always enough for what you give up. For example, in "Night," there were guys who would kill their fathers so that they wouldn't have to drag them. If they did that, then it was all for the success of surviving.
9. I disagree because there shouldn't be people who rule over others. Everyone should be equal in power and have the same rights as each other. In democracy, everyone has the same rights, just some people in the government have more say over citizens.
10. Astrological forecast does not indicate how your day goes. How your day goes is all up to you. If you want to have a good day and stay happy, then you cannot let things bother you. I learned that you choose how your day goes.
11. Traitors can be bad, but also forced to be bad. There are people that are forced to do certain things. But, the bad traitors shouldn't be executed either, considering the situation. If the traitor leads to a country losing a war and letting millions of people die, then maybe execution would be alright. There are shows about traitors and they get severely punished if being caught.
1. Behind every great man is a great woman (every great man is supported, guided, helped and even pushed by a great woman).
2. Witches, demons, and evil spirits actually exist.
3. Sometimes it is necessary to do something wrong to get what you want.
4. What goes around comes around (karma).
5. Human beings are easily tempted by things they want, even if it’s wrong.
6. If someone feels that the ruler/s of his/her country is destroying the country, that person should try to overthrow the ruler/s.
7. There are circumstances or events that justify murdering someone.
8. Success is worth any price you have to pay.
9. Kings are appointed by God, and they rule as His representatives on Earth.
10. Your astrological forecast (your horoscope) is a good indicator of how your day will go.
11. Traitors should be executed.

Night Reflection
The book "Night" by Elie Wiesel give lots of lessons about survival, family, and inhumane acts in our world. One positive lesson that Elie tried to hint at is the importance of family. Elie had loss all of his immediate family, but it wasn't easy losing them. He tried his hardest to keep his dad alive. He would give up his own food to keep him alive. Even if Elie needed the food to survive, he still gave it to his dad instead. He would never give up on him. A possible theme could be, "Your family will never give up on each other, even at it's hardest times." Elie persevered through his whole journey.
There should always be some kind of hope that everything will be alright in the end. Although there are some certain extents where you shouldn't have to "thank God." Elie felt that why should they still pray to God when all these disasters are happening, which is true. Everyone else was thanking him and believed that he is doing this to teach a lesson. 11 million people died in the Holocaust, so there's no reason to "Thank God." For a man like Adolf Hitler, to kill 11 million people, he should never deserve redemption. Just killing one person on purpose should be enough to never be given redemption. Hitler was powerful, but is greatly hated throughout the world and how he negatively affected our world's society.

Dehumanization
Dehumanization: Making the enemy think that they do not deserve humane treatment by portraying them as wicked or threatening.
1) In the beginning, the prisoners felt hope and prayed a lot. They hoped that God has them in these camps for a reason. Now, they are starting to accept the fate that they were going to die sooner or later because that's what Hitler promised. The patient in the hospital said that he would trust Hitler's promise more than God.
2) Eliezer now contemplates about his views on God. The rest of the prisoners still pray to God and think that all of this happening is for a reason. Eliezer wonders why God is doing this to them in the first place. He thinks it's God's fault that this is all happening, and he isn't doing anything to stop it.

Ryne and Kaz Double Chunky Paragraph: Holocaust
The Holocaust is a serious topic that contains discrimination towards Jewish people. In our world, discrimination is not acceptable, especially if it's genocide. The Holocaust was an event that is well known and is infamous for it's killings. Six million Jews were killed by Nazis, plus Five million more non-Jews were killed. A rounded amount of about Eleven million people were killed in the Holocaust. This was a perfect example of inhumanity. Just hurting a person can be considered as inhumane, on a smaller scale. But, killing Eleven million people is detrimental to our world's society. Other people feel disappointed and just wonder why there are people in this world who are like this. The main question is just "why." Why do all of these things have to happen? Sometimes there is a reason, but as of the Holocaust, it will be something that will never be forgiven or forgotten.
The Holocaust is a topic that Jewish people feel ashamed against. This is a perfect example for inhumanity, especially since it was such as big topic. Between 100,000- 500,000 people were part of the execution and planning of the Holocaust. This is another example of inhumanity because it is not just one person planning the execution, it was 100,000+ people who were being inhumane through harmless Jewish! The way the germans went about things is disrespectful and inhumane. The killings of innocent Jewish people of 11 million people is a disgrace to society. Inhumanity nowadays is such a minor thing to those in society today because it is not happening to that one person. Only until someone is hurt is when people feel sorry, but for over 11 million people that got killed is a huge deal of inhumanity.

Kaz Tachino & Brianne Sumida

3. The Columbine High School Massacre were two students that brought guns to school and killed 12 students and 1 teacher.
European union members hang their heads in shame and about 300 migrants had died from this.
4.Columbine
The Columbine High School incident showed inhumanity through the students who wielded the firearms, and the bullies. First of all, bullies are people that aren’t welcomed in our world, but there’s no way to completely put an end to it. They think that it’s funny to make people feel embarrassed about themselves, or see them get hurt. But they don’t think of what’s going on through the victim’s mind. It just so happened that the kids that were bullied at Columbine High School couldn’t take it anymore. They opened fired on the school’s students out of rage. Although it isn’t 100% their fault, it’s still inhumane. This isn’t the way to take out your anger. Seeing a counselor or talking to someone would be the humane thing to do, but not taking it out on innocent people.

Allusion Poem: Genie Final
At last, finally alive in this world
But with one purpose
To assist people and help them
To care for them and pick them up
Somewhat a choice, but that’s who I am
This is the job I’m given in life
This life is unfair
Nothing is paid back to me for my services
Obnoxiously trying to get out of helping others
Always being away from people who need help
But it’s my point of life
It is a habit to help others in need
Acceptingly, I try to make the best of being free
Always trying to have fun and make people laugh
And try being the life of the party
Everybody likes a comedic guy
Easing the tension between people, with my impressions
Why be so serious when you can have a good laugh
Promises are made
Paying me in return for helping others
I do favors, but don’t expect anything
Although it is a promise, they can be broken
I don’t rely on these deals
People don’t realize how I care for others
Promises were kept
Some people do keep their promises
They’ll do just as much for you
It may not seem like it, but they care, too
I feel appreciated, and soon you will see
You ain’t never had a friend like me
