Of Mice and Men Vocabulary


Sullenness (adj.)- gloomy, sluggish, and slow.
"She paused and her face lost its sullenness and grew interested." Page 78
At the funeral when we made our prayer the whole church grew great sullenness and depression.

Liniment (noun)- a liquid that is rubbed on your skin to relieve pain.
"Crooks sat on his bunk and looked at the door for a moment and then he reached for the liniment bottle." Page 83
Matthew applied liniment to his ankle to secure that he won't get infections.

Reverently (adj.)- angrily or with great feeling.
"George said reverently, "Jesus Christ! I bet we could swing her." " Page 60
Naomi reverently yelled at Kaz, "Stop singing, it's so annoying!"
